Our Story

Growing up, we were always taught to be mindful of our food waste, as our parents had come from developing countries and knew the importance of conserving resources.  From a young age, we knew that food wastage was a problem and that we wanted to help.  How we would do so was decided after the experience of a lifetime.

When we were six, our family took a trip to our father's hometown in the developing country of Kenya.  When visiting a Maasai village, we saw how little resources the people had, yet they had hearts of gold!  When we arrived back home from our trip, we realized that despite our abundant resources in the school cafeteria, food wastage was a significant problem.  In 2017, we launched "Give Back With a Snack" at our elementary school.  At "Give Back With a Snack", we collect non-perishable snack items that students otherwise might throw away and donate them to local food pantries.  "Give Back With a Snack" is currently successfully running in six schools in Massachusetts!  "Give Back With a Snack" helps students and teachers improve the nature of their community because every small snack donated is a big action of kindness!

"We believe that everybody can make a positive impact and change their lives as well as the lives of others for the better through education and giving."
